Ex Paul Curran, Andy Powell track bike

September 8, 1984. Crowd gone mad, cheering four lads in white-yellow jerseys. They are Manchester Wheelers, that just won gold medal in National Team Pursuit Championship. One of those Kings of England is a man in his early twenties. Riding on a bronze track bike, he seems got a wonderful future ahead.

His name is Paul Curran of Thornaby, North Yorkshire. A household name in 80s-90s’ British cycling world. Inside his trophy cabinet are two gold medals at Commonwealth Games, twenty eight times gold medalist at National Championship, and lots more. Yes, he dominated road race and track world of that time. Paul’s racing career was unfortunately cut short in 1996. His back was broken after a serious accident whilst riding the Tour of the North Pennines. After that, he never ride a bike competitively again.
Remember the bronze track bike? Once the steed of the champion, is now in Jakarta!
